Job Interview Coming Up? Time to Clean Up Your Social Media!

As a recruitment consultant, I always remind candidates—your online presence matters more than you think! Employers often check social media before making a hiring decision. A quick clean-up could make all the difference.

1) Google Yourself
Start by searching your name to see what comes up. If there’s anything unprofessional, now’s the time to adjust privacy settings or remove content.

2) Check Your Profiles
LinkedIn – Is your profile up to date? A strong, professional presence is key. This is at the top of a Google search!
Facebook & Instagram – Adjust privacy settings and remove any content that could be misinterpreted.
Twitter/X & TikTok – Watch for old posts that might not align with your professional image.

3) Audit Your Posts
Avoid:
❌ Controversial or offensive content
❌ Negative comments about past employers
❌ Inappropriate photos or language

4) Build a Positive Personal Brand
Instead of just deleting, focus on adding value:
* Share industry insights
* Engage with professional content
* Highlight achievements & projects

Employers want to see the best version of you—online and in person. A quick social media refresh could be the edge you need to land that job offer!Have you ever Googled yourself before an interview?
